Is it time to repair or replace my system? There are many factors to consider before choosing to repair or replace your system. Age and frequency of repairs are something that needs to be considered. The age of system is critical factor to consider when repairing the system to assure it's a good use of your money. A lot of contractors and home owners use the '$5,000 rule'. You multiply the age of the equipment by the repair cost, and if that exceeds $5,000, then replace the unit. If the cost is less, go ahead and repair it. i.e. equipment age: 11 years x repair cost: $550.00 = $6,050. Unit should be replaced. i.e. equipment age: 10 years x repair cost: $350 = $3,500. It’s OK to repair. Energy efficiency is also something important to consider. A unit that is over 10 years old might be causing you high utility bills and will continue to increase over time. Every home and unit is different which is why it is important to have a professional technician look at your unit to determine your units efficiency, age and longevity. At John's A/C, our proffesional technicians are more then happy to diagnose your system and help you make the best decision for you and your family.

Are there signs that point my A/C needs repairs? It is always safe to schedule a service call if you are suspecting your A/C might need some repairs. You may need air conditioning repair services if there is leaking liquid around the inside unit, the air in the home isn't hot or cool enough, the unit is short-cycling or constantly turning on and off, using the system is consistently resulting in higher-than-normal utility bills, or if there's excessive noise during startup and operation. If any of these scenarios sound familiar, schedule a service call with one of our experienced service technicians.

How can I avoid needing system repairs? There's nothing that will 100% guarantee that your system will not need repairs. Unfortunatly things happen, and repairs might need to take place. But there are various steps that you can take to better care for your system. A bi-annual maintenance agreement is highly recommended. By spending a little once a year, you can save a lot in energy bills by keeping your system operating at peak efficiency. These service checkups can reveal leaks, rust or wear and tear, which might be causing poor performance from your system. Changing out your filter regularly is also important, this helps ensure no debris is obstructing or interfering with the outside unit and can keep the indoor blower motor running smoothly. If you want to know more about how you can keep your unit running smoothly for the years to come, feel free to give us a call! One of our trained technicians will be more then happy to help give you tips and tricks to ensure peak performance from your system.
